Prepaid Phone Cards
- A great way to support our troops
By Cory McLeod
We all know that American troops in
Afghanistan and Iraq put their lives at risk each and every day. What
most people don’t know, however, is how much they get paid for their
service overseas. The base pay for a private with one year of service is
approximately $15,480 a year. This is just slightly more than an average
movie usher’s salary at 15,080 a year. As many soldiers have to support
families back home on their salaries, there isn’t a lot of money left
over for keeping in touch.
Prepaid phone cards are a great way you can support the troops. A
donation of a prepaid phone card will allow a soldier in Afghanistan or
Iraq stay in touch with his or her loved ones and children back home.
Phone cards from
Phone
Cards Plus offer some of the cheapest rates to and from the Middle
East. A donation of a mere $10.00 phone card will allow a soldier in
Iraq to talk to his or her family back home for over an hour.
Send you prepaid phone card to the American Red Cross and they will
distribute it to military personnel currently serving in Iraq or
Afghanistan.
